Sudafest 2021

Sudafest 2021 was a thrilling cultural extravaganza that transported attendees to the heart of Sudanese traditions. Bursting onto the scene with a sensational Nubian street parade led by the Cardiff Sudanese Community Dance Group, the event filled the air with excitement. Tukul, a traditional kitchen, tantalized taste buds with complimentary samples of exquisite Sudanese delicacies. Coffee enthusiasts flocked to the Jebena corner, savouring the aroma of freshly roasted beans and complimentary cups of authentic Sudanese coffee.

Dazzling performances of traditional dances from various Sudanese regions enthralled the audience. The event catered to all ages with a vibrant children's colouring corner, igniting creativity. The soul-stirring Sufi Parade, accompanied by live music and drumming, resonated with spiritual fervour.

History came alive in the captivating Sudanese Museum of Cultural Artefacts, while market stalls adorned with Sudanese crafts and products showcased the vibrancy and craftsmanship of Sudanese artisans.

The award-winning documentary "Talking About Trees" mesmerized audiences, shedding light on the revival of community cinema in Sudan and inspiring all who watched.

Sudafest drew a diverse crowd of 400 attendees, with 60% being Sudanese citizens from Bristol and across the South West. Surpassing expectations, the event captivated visitors for an average of three hours as they immersed themselves in its diverse offerings. Notable guests, including Bristol's Lord Mayor Councillor Steve Smith, added further significance to the celebration.
